Upcoming Projects Near I-435 & Midland

It will be a busy two years for the area surrounding I-435 and Midland Drive. We want to make sure you are informed about upcoming construction projects.

Key Projects & Timeline

  1. WaterOne Valve Replacement (February 2025)

    • Fixing a water main at Midland & Renner after a failure in 2024.
    • Expect lane closures but not a full intersection closure.

  2. KDOT I-435 Southbound Bridge Re-decking (March 2025 – Late 2025)

    • No eastbound or westbound traffic access on Midland Drive under I-435.

  3. Shawnee Mission Parkway Mill & Overlay (June 2025 – December 2025)

    • Pavement and stormwater repairs on Shawnee Mission Parkway between K-7 and I-435.
    • Expect lane closures but no full road closures.

  4. Midland Rehabilitation Project

    • Improvements include bike lanes, sidewalks, and safer road configurations.
    • Phase 0 (Q1 2025): Stormwater pipe installation (short-term Midland Drive closure).
    • Phase 1A (Q2–Q3 2025): Utility relocations (no road closures).
    • Phase 1B (Q3–Q4 2025): More utility relocations (potential Midland Drive closures).
    • Phase 2 (Q3–Q4 2025): Stormwater improvements (digging & trenching).
    • Phase 3 (Q2–Q3 2026): Full rehabilitation of Midland Drive (road closures & detours).
    • Completion Target: October 2026.
